Herring Bank customers are reporting a suspicious text message
February 7, 2024
Please be aware that we have received reports from multiple customers about fraudulent text messages. In some cases, the fraudsters are spoofing bank phone numbers (making it appear like the text was sent from a Herring Bank phone number). All of the reported text messages involve approving a purchase made at Best Buy.
Customers should safeguard their personal information and never disclose confidential information such as their account numbers, social security numbers, credit card number, or other personal information.
Caller ID information can be manipulated by fraudsters to make phone calls or text message appear to come from Herring Bank.
Herring Bank will never call or text you and ask you to provide your account number, social security number, credit/debit card number/3-digit security code/expiration date, or other PII.
If you are not certain if a call or text is legitimate, please hang up and call the phone number on the back of your debit card.
We take the security of your account very seriously and have deployed several different strategies to protect your account.
Herring Bank will never call and ask you for any account information. If you receive a call asking for details about your account do not provide any information. Hang-up and call us at 866-348-3435 and speak to a representative.
